This dark comedy features Jackie, newly freed from prison, who tries to stay straight as he returns to his life with longtime girlfriend Veronica, under the guidance of his slick sponsor Ralph D. The Wall Street Journal called the play a “tight, smart and splendidly well-made, a tough-minded, unromantically romantic comedy that keeps you laughing, then sends you home thinking.” Here Guirgis gives us “a slice of life that’s as provocative as it is absorbing” – USA Today. For its Broadway run, the play was nominated for a Tony Award, Outer Critics Circle Award and Drama Desk Award for Best Play.
The Lehman cast includes students Manuel Galan (Jackie), Adeyinka Adebola (Ralph D.), Angie Nunez (Veronica), Emily Holland (Victoria), and Andrew Lekhraj (Cousin Julio). The production team is set designer Kyle Higgins, costume designer Kimberly Matela, lighting designer Greg Solomon, and fight choreographer Carlo Rivieccio. Mentored by Carol Sullivan, the production stage managers are students Adrian Rios, Diana Sheivprasad, Joshua Caro, and Travis Ocasio.
